Anarae Schunk

It may have not been clear from the last post that Anarea was an accomplished chessplayer, and friend of the MSCA. Pardon my grammer and spelling, as I am quite shaken.  I am proud to call Anarea my friend. She was a student of Brian Ribnick at Metcalf Jr High, went on to continue as an active player with the Burnsville High School chess team, and was an assistant coach and mentor at Metcalf.  Brian says "She was like a daughter to me".  She was a victim of a violent homicide.  The chess community is devastated by the loss of such a promising player, coach and potential organizer.  The latest information may be found at http://www.startribune.com/local/south/226015771.html She played at the Twin Ports Open in Duluth in August, achieving her highest rating of her career. She is missed.
